Margo Aasland ~ Artist Statement 

God has blessed me with an artistic talent, because of it; I am able to use art as a type of healing to gain inner peace in living with Lupus (SLE).  I use art as a way of drawing an understanding of life, for self discovery and self exploration.  Creating something with my hands gives me a since of control, strength and inner peace.  

 As an artist I have always been fascinated by imperfect beauty in the world around us.  My artwork is a process by which I piece together images of lives forgotten in time to explore our past memories of pain and healing from religious, political and social control. 

 My work consists of use of mixed media, texture, detail and contrast, which I try to find the emotion of each piece as I work, sometimes working on several bodies of work at the same time.
